Divine Love in the Holy Tree

“O God, my God! Praise be unto Thee for kindling the fire of divine love in the Holy Tree on the summit of the loftiest mount: that Tree which is ‘neither of the east nor of the west,’ that fire which blazed out till the flame of it soared upward to the Concourse on high, and from it those realities caught the light of guidance…”

Shadows, morning walk – June Perkins

Shadows

Softly patterning
walls into art.

Swiftly chasing
dreams trying to start.

Shattering
so many of the young.

Unwinding optimism
into flyaway threads.

Yet insight
might lie in their arc

-softly pattern recovery
beckon its start.

Water of Life

“Water symbolizes the water of life, which is knowledge, and fire is the fire of the love of God; therefore, man must be baptized with the water of life, the Holy Spirit and the fire of the love of the Kingdom.”
-`Abdu’l-Baha,Promulgation of Universal Peace

No Geometry

The rain itself hath no geometry, no limits, no form, but it taketh on one form or another, according to the restrictions of its vessel. In the same way, the Holy Essence of the Lord God is boundless, immeasurable, but His graces and splendours become finite in the creatures…

The beauty and power of the ocean expressed to me the unknowable, and fathomless mystery.

“To every discerning and illumined heart it is evident that God, the unknowable Essence, the divine Being, is immensely exalted beyond every human attribute…Far be it from His glory that human tongue should adequately recount His praise, or that human heart comprehend His fathomless mystery.”

Meditation Showed Me

JunePerkins_Brisbane_Mercy_172

Meditation showed me: Mercy to light is shade, to darkness is light, to the miserable is joy, to night is day, to drought is rain, to floods is the sun, to suffering is beauty and in that meditation came this bird – the inward light of fire, walking in the spiritual waters of the soul.

“My calamity is My providence, outwardly it is fire and vengeance, but inwardly it is light and mercy. Hasten thereunto that thou mayest become an eternal light and an immortal spirit. This is My command unto thee, do thou observe it.”
-Baha’u’llah, The Hidden Words

When I pass

Always behind
seeking to capture textures of a family walk
mushrooms in a tree stump

When I pass
is this one of the images that will flash before me?

mushroom

When I pass will I see
reality lights of cane and sunset
flickering orange, green merging and
realise my soul is
an interconnection of light to light memories
people there flicker
into lamps of their soul

lights

The lamp of my soul
becomes zen of light and circles
all colours
and none
is this what souls look like
when we pass and go to meet our loved ones?

Breathe

brokenchurch_april2011_0447
Broken Church – June Perkins

There’s a lady with coloured birds
who knows how to breathe
long deep breaths
from head to toe
all through her body.

She told me ‘it is easy to take the
thoughts and put them aside
good or indifferent, stressed or
restless
just breathe

in and out watching the breath
aware of the presence of that
which keeps us alive
taking in the oxygen
forgetting all else but this
breath.’

She tells us not to sleep
as we become aware of each toe
and each part of our hand

And our chest rising and falling
and the thoughts are not welling up stillness,
except for the breath

But someone is snoring because
she has become so calm
but that is alright too
because she is free for
a moment

From the broken tarp rooves
wind gusts
rubbish
insurance companies
quotes
and all that stuff
that interrupts
the breath

And she breathes…

In goes the pain
but out comes a dream
a dream of a calm sea
and a green rainforest
but she must let go even of this
future dream

and breathe

The moment of calm
sinking in as she leans
on a chair and feels all the tension
drift away
fall away and she can fly
in a way
she can swim in a way

With the breath
of freedom
and hope…
