Some photo highlights of my first ever attendance at a PNG Independence day celebration anywhere.  This is at Logan in Queensland.  I went with my mother and brother visiting from Tasmania, as well as family and friends.

To Be As One Tree – Part 3

The To Be As One Tree project continues.

Be Illumined

At our last Nineteen Day Feast, we shared the concept of the To Be As One Tree Project with our community.

We shared some sample leaves and ways (pictured above) that people could decorate them and began sharing out some paper.

The writing activity sheet, and background information and quotations were also shared and will be emailed as well to all the different core activitiy groups taking place, as well as families and individuals.

About four families have taken some paper to begin work on their leaves and some are also going to home visit others in the community to do the activity.

We’re encouraging everyone to take photographs of their leaf making, writing and quotations with trees meditation groups.

We explained that rather than individuals creating an art exhibition for the bicentennial we had instead gone for a project that everyone could contribute to and say we had made…

Interview with Hélène Magisson Illustrator on Sarah’s Two Nativities

Today the Magic Fish Dreaming blog welcomes back Hélène Magisson, for a delightful interview about her latest illustration work for Janine Fraser’s text Sarah’s Two Nativities.

Illustrator: Hélène Magisson began her artistic career as a painting restorer in Paris, where she was also trained in the art of medieval illumination. She has lived all over the world, including Africa, France and India. She loves to discover other cultures through their arts and customs. She now calls Australia home and has begun a new career of illustrating picture books, some of which have been CBCA Notables. Sarah’s Two Nativities (written by Janine M Fraser) is her first book with Black Dog Books.
